Transportation between Bangkok and Pattaya: The trip should take around 2 hours. Taxi: 1,200 THB P.T. Taxi Service Bus: From Bangkok to Pattaya, departs every 30-40 minutes from 5:00 to 23:00 at Bangkok's Ekkamai (Eastern) Bus Terminal, on Sukhumvit adjacent to station E7 of the Skytrain. From Pattaya to Bangkok, departs every 30-40 minutes from 4:30 to 23:00 at Pattaya Bus Terminal. Faster first class air-con bus costs 124 THB. Baht Bus (Songthaew): Hundreds of Songthaews cruise the streets of Pattaya offering rides. The official price is 5 THB for trips within Pattaya but foreigners are expected to pay 10 THB. Longer trips to Jomtien or Naklua might cost 2 to 3 times that amount. Flat fares apply only when a moving songtaew is hailed. A stopped baht bus without passengers, will assume you want to charter at a much higher fare of 100 THB or more depending on your negotiating skills. The most common route is the beach loop: south along Beach Road, east on Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya Road), north on Sai Song (Second Road), and east on Pattaya Nua (North Pattaya Road). But the routes often vary with: a right turn from Beach Road to Pattaya Klang (Central Pattaya Road) which might turn right again at Second Road; or no turn at dolphin circle going straight into Naklua or even a right turn to the bus station. The only way to know the route for sure is to ask (but don't let the driver mistake your asking as a charter request). It's also fairly easy to catch a songtheaw going either direction on Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road. North Pattaya Road usually has a songtheaw waiting at Dolphin Circle. From Naklua you can catch the white songthaew out to Sukhumvit and on to Si Racha. If you're heading to south towards Jomtien there are songthaews waiting on Pratamnak Rd (the continuation of Second Road) at the corner with South Pattaya Road. On Sukhumvit Road you can catch songtheaws that go as far as Si Racha and Sattahip (marked by color); it is also possible to catch a ride with one of the many full-size buses. Please refer to Pattaya Map. Motorbike Taxi: The quickest way around for a single traveller is often using a motorbike taxi. These are less expensive than using a songthaew as a taxi. Expect to pay around 30 THB for trips around the inner part of town. As for the rates of using mobile internet, better get EDGE/GPRS Internet Package rather than using the normal SIM card service. DTAC and AIS both have a store at Bangkok Airport near the Exit 7 on the 2nd arrival floor. You may purchase EDGE/GPRS Internet Package and also have them teach you how to work everything, but do install the driver of the mobile phone on your laptop in advance.
